Example Example was Company 2’s 2018 and inaugural season, comprising of 2 short works choreographed by Arabella Frahn-Starkie and Kyall Shanks.
Close Copy is a dance work that takes inspiration from photographic practice. It is comparison and analysis in a dream state. It is multiple versions of a single memory. It is an ever moving deceleration. It is a genuine artefact that is both unchanging and moving forward with the momentum of a body twisting and flailing. For Paul.
As part of the process for Close Copy, the Yellow Wheel dancers undertook a photo shoot with photographer Trudy Treble in order to create the banners featured in the work, as well as a photo book.
In Reference to the PDF is a short demonstration of investigations, special moments, bad jokes and playfulness shared between Kyall and company 2 throughout the year, kept alive by the company members through the use of a PDF whilst he was overseas.
