Yellow Wheel is delighted to announce its newest project: YW2 Collective

This new initiative is for recent graduates from all tertiary institutions who are interested in being part of a group of like-minded dancers transitioning from full time training to the professional sector.

The collective will meet every Wednesday at Melbourne Dance Centre and together we will choose the programming for the year. Whether it be developing their own work or commissioning a choreographer, each member will have the opportunity to build essential skills to become an active member in the dance industry.

Sunday's audition will be a chance to get to know Yellow Wheel's creative team and participate in creative tasks and improvisation exercises taught by Adam, Josh and Kyall.

ilDance (Sweden) Summer Intensive 2017
Presented by Yellow Wheel & The Space Dance & Arts Centre

We are very excited to offer a professional development program for dance leaders and young, pre-professional dancers, led by internationally acclaimed artists Lee Brummer (ilDance), Israel Aloni (ilDance) & Adam Wheeler (Yellow Wheel & The Space School of Performance Arts).

PROGRAM ONE: Dance Leaders Program
For all teachers and choreographers wanting to expand their knowledge in contemporary dance methodologies and practices.

PROGRAM TWO: Pre-Professional and Youth Program
For all young contemporary dancers from the age of 14 to 26 who want to expand their technical and choreographic skill set. Previous experience recommended.

Israel Aloni & Lee Brummer from ilDance (Sweden)

Yellow Wheel is a collection of young dancers, all of which are determined to pursue a career in dance. Our dancers come from a vast range of schools, universities and institutions all with the common goal of being part of a collaborative, creative process with an emphasis on producing high-grade dance works. Dancers who are a part of Yellow Wheel become part of an ensemble for the whole year, rehearsing on Tuesday nights and most Sundays and working on a number of key projects and training opportunities including:

• A training intensive and new work by Lee Brummer and Israel Aloni from ilDance (Sweden)
• Create and present your own short work in our SHOWROOM 2017 Winter Season
• A new collaboration with E:Motion21 to create our first integrated dance work

The audition for the company will be three hours and include contemporary technique class, followed by some improvisational and choreographic tasks. You can choose between two auditions times/locations:

2017 Company Audition

Yellow Wheel presents its 2016 major season, QUARK, choreographed by Adam Wheeler and Kyall Shanks.

Quarks are the smallest layer of matter in the known universe and can only exist in pairs. Deep within our existence we have to be connected to another but our digital world is tearing that notion apart. QUARK is a contemporary dance work that unpacks issues surrounding young people and social media, while using cutting edge motion tracking technology to bring you a truly memorable dance experience.

Yellow Wheel aims to offer a program that purely concentrates on the development of young people in contemporary dance. Throughout the week you will learn from some of Australia's finest contemporary teachers as well as investigate concepts of improvisation, choreographic process, partnering and our short but rich contemporary dance history. This is your opportunity to meet like-minded people and develop your understanding of our fantastic genre.

The day will start with technique class, followed by a different choreographer/teacher every day, who will work with participants to explore their own particular practice. The day includes a lunch break with drinks and snacks catered.

You can save and book for the whole week, or we have flexible options that let you book for specific days only if you cannot make the whole week.

2016 Company Audition

It's A Dance Project, now in its third year, is a one day intensive workshop led by Yellow Wheel Artistic Director Adam Wheeler, during which participants attempt to make and perform a work in just twelve hours! Young dancers aged 12-26 are invited to be a part of the project. This is an opportunity for lovers of dance across Victoria to be part of work which is devised, rehearsed and performed in one day, all the while working with some of Australia's leading youth practitioners.

VENUE: The Space (The Dance Hall) - 7 Carlton St, Prahran.
DATE: Saturday May 23rd.
TIME: 9am - 9:30pm (venue open from 8:30am)
FEE: $50 for the day (please bring cash on arrival)

All participants must register using the form the right before Friday May 22nd.
